Obituary for Faye Elizabeth Shearer

Faye E. Lomison Shearer, heavens newest angel has departed earth and gone home. Faye Elizabeth Lomison Shearer age 92 passed on Thursday May 3, 2018 at Serenity Villa in Slinger, WI. Born Oct. 20, 1925 to Claude E. and Elizabeth M. Conway Lomison in Orviston, PA. Faye was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Kenneth A. Shearer in 1999. Also preceding her where three daughters, Florence M., Sandy L. Sheetz and Susan G. one son John M. and one step son Kenneth A. Jr. She was also preceded by three sisters and one brother, Helen Chaplain, Gladys Pierce and Henrietta Gray and Harry G. Lomison. Also, her special friend Herbie Wentlandt.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Doris L. Eggler of Pennsylvania; one daughter, Judy K. Sprouse and husband Jake of Howard, Ohio; two sons, Wallie T. Shearer and wife Kaye of Hartford, Wisconsin and Jim L. Shearer and wife Cindy of Fox Point, Wisconsin; also, one step daughter-in-law, Mrs. Joy Shearer of Hellertown, Pennsylvania. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and 4 step-great grandchildren and many friends, nieces, and nephews.
During WWII Faye first worked at Sylvania soldering filaments in tubes then went to work at Piper Aircraft in nearby Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. In the early 1950’s Ken and Faye moved to Lancaster, PA where Ken attend Bible School. Faye had her own Hoggy shop to help support the family at that time. Upon Ken’s graduation the family moved south first to Northeast Tennessee and then to the Southwest part of Virginia. Faye and Ken started as missionaries teaching Bible in the schools, passing out clothes etc. helping poor and needy families. About 1960 Ken got his first two churches in the Nickelsville, Virginia area. They spent many years Ken as pastor and Faye with all the responsibilities of being a pastor’s wife. She also played the piano and organ at all the functions and churches they had throughout the years. She would play the piano and their children would sing. Ken would announce them as Mr. and Mrs. Shearer and the Little Scissors. Faye was a very talented lady and taught many craft classes and sold and gave away most of what she made. She became well known for her Fashion Shows and Easter Bonnet Parades.
After Ken passed away in Jan. 1999 Faye moved to Hartford, Wisconsin to be near her sons. She joined Hartford Senior Friends and soon became their greeter a job she loved and did until moving to Serenity Villa this year. She also was a member of the Breakfast Club in town. She enjoyed taking trips to the Fireside and seeing the shows and many other trips with family and friends. Faye looked forward to spending time with family on the weekends and her card games with Kaye. She loved sitting on the porch swing and looking at all the flowers. She was proud of her apartment at Washington Heights where she lived most of her time in Hartford. In 2007 Faye was given an award for the Most Admired Senior Citizen at the Washington County Fair. She was loved by all who knew her.
There will be a Memorial Gathering in honor of Faye on Thursday May 17, 2018 at Shimon Funeral Home from 4 PM until 6 PM. In lieu of flowers the family request that you make a donation to your favorite charity. Inurnment will take place at a date to be announced later at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Cedar Springs, Pennsylvania.
The family would like to thank the special care givers at Serenity Villa in Slinger and Horizon Hospice for their love and caring that helped make Faye’s end of life comfortable.
