Obituary for Alice Marie Emmer

It is with great sadness that the family of Alice Emmer announces her passing on Monday, July 23 2018, at the age of 87 years. Alice resided at Serenity Villa in Slinger. Alice raised her family in Hartford, WI and lived many years in Las Vegas before moving back to the area last year.
Alice was born on March 17, 1931 in Osage, Iowa to Carl Edward Shaw and Vivian Lily (nee Cook) Brown. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Raymond Emmer on March 26, 1949 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Erin. She received her Bachelors of Science degree and worked as a cytotechnologist for the Milwaukee VA Hospital, Consultant Physicians in Pathology in Beaver Dam for many years, and earlier at the Hartford Memorial Hospital as a respiratory therapist.
Alice will be forever remembered for her great love of friends, sewing, golfing and cooking
Alice met new friends in all avenues of her life. Her friendships often became life-long friends. Her friends meant the world to her and interacted in all parts of her life.
A remarkable seamstress, Alice crafted extraordinary quilts and sewed wedding dresses for all six daughters and even handmade suits for one wedding. In addition to sewing most of her own and children's clothes throughout the years, she dedicated time to make baby blankets for the less fortunate in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Golf was a main focus and passion in Alice's life. She was fortunate enough to golf in many fantastic places, including St. Andrew's golf course in Scotland. Many people were impressed when an announcement came over the public address system that she had parred the 18th hole!
Alice was a "Master Chef" to all who were lucky enough to enjoy her cooking. She had a wide range of cooking and baking skills, including the "long-johns" she made to everyone's delight around the holidays.
