Obituary for Daniel A. Lang

Daniel A. Lang, age 68 of Neosho (formerly of Slinger), Wisconsin went home to the Lord on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at LifeCare Hospitals of Wisconsin in Pewaukee, surrounded by his loving family.
Daniel was born on February 5, 1950 in Wausau, Wisconsin to Alois “Rusty” H. and Mildred “Millie” T. (nee Hummer) Lang. He was baptized at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Athens, WI. Dan graduated Hartford Union High School on June 4, 1969. Immediately following high school he joined the United States Marine Corps, honorably discharged after 5 ½ years. He went on to serve his country with the Army-National Guard for 16 years. He was united in marriage to Arlene M. Herther on May 6, 1978 at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Hartford.
Dan worked for Amity Leather in West Bend for nearly 20 years and after 16 years retired from John Deere in Horicon in 2016. Together, Dan and Arlene owned and operated Hometown Appliance in Hartford for 15 years. Dan will be remembered fondly of his patriotic passion for his country and his love for his family. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren among camping, collecting firearms, watching military and John Wayne movies. He was a faithful, longtime, and dedicated member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Neosho, WI.
Daniel is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Arlene Lang; cherished children, April (Doug) Trost of Slinger, Dave Lang of Neosho, Andrew Lang of Allenton, Denise (Jacob) Anderson of Iron Ridge, and Daniel (fiancé, Nikki) Lang of West Bend; cherished grandchildren, Dakota Wilkens, Doug Trost, Alexandra Lang, Austyn and Jacksyn Lang, Sterling and Lincoln Anderson, Persayus Lang, Dylan and Lexi Carey; dear siblings, Sandy Upson of Hartford, Linda (Carl) Roethle of Rubicon, Gloria (Howard) Schuett of Reeseville, Thomas Lang of Milwaukee, and sister-in-law, Joanie (Pat) Lang-Frank of Hartford; loving mother-in-law, Viola Herther; and dear siblings-in-law, Lois (Richard) Jagow, Pearl (Darryl) Pernat, Carol (Roger) Weber, and Donna (Daniel) Savatski. He is further survived by many loved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rusty and Millie Lang; brother, James Lang; brother-in-law, Jim Upson; father-in-law, Merlin Herther; among several aunts and uncles.


Mass of Christian Burial for Daniel will be celebrated Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 2:00p.m. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church (148 W. Lehman Street Neosho, WI) with Fr. Justin Lopina officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Saturday from 11:00a.m.-1:45p.m.


Immediately following Mass, military honors will be presented.


Private inurnment in St. Bartholomew Catholic Cemetery, Rubicon.
