Robert P. Spuhler, age 95 of Hartford, Wisconsin joined his beloved wife, Frances in Heaven Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Serenity Villa in Slinger, with his loving family by his side.

Bob was born February 23, 1922 in Hartford, WI to Royal “Roy” and Cordula “Cora” (nee Strobel) Spuhler.  In high school he was very active in basketball, track and was the 1939 football captain. He was the sophomore vice president, junior class secretary-treasurer, senior vice president and the letterman’s club president in 1940.  He served as an altar boy at St. Kilian Catholic Church until he was accidentally shot in the right leg. He enlisted in the United States Navy on November 5, 1942 and was honorably discharged on February 19, 1946.  In 1948 he continued his education at the University of Wisconsin- Madison where he graduated with a degree of BBA. He was united in marriage to Frances M. Seavecki on September 9, 1950 at St. Thomas Church in the Town of Poygan (Winnebago County), WI. He began working for Sentry Insurance in Stevens Point, WI as H.O. Group Sales Specialist. In 1958 he transferred to Grand Rapids, Michigan and worked in sales and claims, and after 35 years he retired 1984 as a liability claim’s examiner. He enjoyed rebuilding and refinishing furniture for St. Vincent de Paul as well as for personal use. In 1986 he began volunteering for the Hartford Auto Museum, for over 25 years.  He also enjoyed gardening and volunteering at the Hartford History Room where he copied old newspapers to supplement his hobby of genealogy of the Spuhler and Strobel Families.

Bob is survived by his loving children, , William (Annette) of Sedona, AZ, Steven of Waukesha, Elizabeth (Bob) of Hartford, Daniel (Jeanine) of Iron River, and Christine (Vinko) of North Barrington, IL; cherished grandchildren, Sam and Russell (Angie) Dorn, Gabriela Escalante, and Nathaniel Spuhler; cherished great grandchild, Tanner Dorn; dear sister, Dorothy Conrardy; and dear siblings-in-law, Edward (Joyce) Seavecki, Cecelia Tetzloff, Susan Willing, Irene Jaccard, and Robert Ryf. He is further survived by many loved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Peter and Pearl (nee Landowski) Seavecki; his beloved wife of 66 years, Frances Spuhler (11/30/2016); siblings, Earl (Pat), Howard (Margaret), and Burnell (Marie), and Russell (Marion) Spuhler; and siblings-in-law, Rosemary Ryf, Marge (Ed) Dawicki, Violet (John) Strosin, Florence (Bob) Dumke, Wallace Ebner, and George (Delores) Seavecki, Earl Jaccard, Ray Tetzloff, and Willard Willing.

A Memorial Service for Bob will be held on Friday, June 23, 2017 at 3:00p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home (824 Union Street Hartford, WI 53027) with Fr. David LaPlante officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00-3:00p.m.

Inurnment in St. Kilian Cemetery, Hartford.
