Lee L. VanderJagt, age 74, of Hartford, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, June 29, 2012 at the Aurora Medical Center in Hartford.
He was born April 12, 1938 in Sheboygan to Marvin and Harriet (Soerens) VanderJagt. Lee was united in marriage to Linda Bruggink on November 7, 1959 in Cedar Grove, WI.
Lee was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son and brother. He touched the hearts of all who knew him. Lee owned and operated East Side Lumber in Hartford for over 40 years. He enjoyed his career and loved talking and joking with all his customers. Lee was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was an instrumental member of their Building Committee and the Administrative Board. Lee was a member of the Hartford Lions Club and the Jaycees. He loved Brewer baseball and going to as many games as he could and Packer football. Lee also enjoyed golfing and fishing. Lee served his country in the U.S. Army.
Lee was a devoted family man and nothing pleased him more than to be with them as much as he could.
He is survived by his beloved wife Linda, his loving children; Lori (Donovan) Polzin of Hartford and Michael (Kim) VanderJagt of Hartford, his grandchildren, Kristi (Corey) Pennenberg, Alyssa Polzin, Michael Steuer, Amber Steuer and Brooke Erickson, his precious great grandchild Brady Pennenberg, his mother Jean VanderJagt of Sheboygan Falls, his brother Mark (Karen) VanderJagt of AZ, Jean (Don) Schreurs and Jane (Rodney) Teunissen all of Cedar Grove, WI. Lee is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Hartford with Rev. Paul Johnsen officiating. Family and friends are welcome for visitation on MONDAY, July 2 at the First United Methodist Church from 3 - 7 p.m. and on Tuesday from 2 - 3 p.m. the time of the funeral service.
Interment Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Following the burial a celebration of Lee's life will be held at the Hartford Country Club all are welcome.
